Dr. Kamila Junik, Assistant Professor, Institute of Middle and Far East, Jagiellonian University, Krakow, Poland delivered lecture on India – Poland Cultural Exchange: Hindi Language as a Tool
The Amity School of Liberal Arts (ASLA) organized a Webinar on India-Poland Cultural Exchange: Hindi Language as Tool on 4th June 2020. The Chief Resource Person of the Webinar was Dr. Kamila Junik, Assistant Professor, Institute of Middle and Far East, Jagiellonian University, Krakow, Poland.
An Indologist, orientalist and culture expert, Dr. Junik spoke eloquently about the development of Indology in Poland with special emphasis on the Hindi language. She also threw light on the collaborations between India and Poland in the field of language and literature. Dr. Junik spoke at length about the institutionalized practice of learning Hindi, Sanskrit and other Indian languages in Poland. She also elucidated the need to focus on translations from Hindi to Polish and vice versa. With her varied academic interests and a career in teaching Hindi spanning almost two decades, Dr. Junik shared her personal experience of learning Hindi in Poland.
The Webinar was attended by more than 60 students and faculty members of Amity University Haryana as well as some faculty members of the Jagiellonian University. There were a couple of attendees from other Indian universities as well including the University of Delhi and Noida International University. There was one attendee from the Brandenburg Institute of Technology Cottbus-Senftenburg, Germany. There was also one attendee from the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India.
